Dominical has long been a well kept secret on the Central Pacific Coast. Located on the banks of the Baru River and the Pacific Ocean, it has some of the best surfing available anywhere in the country. The Dominical area seems primed to become the next hotspot for development in Costa Rica. The only remaining unpaved stretch of the Coastal Highway lies north of Dominical, and once it is paved this area should explode.
Besides surfing, Dominical offers many other activities which include Deep Sea Fishing, Zip-Lining, Waterfall Tours, and Rafting just to name a few. There are many kinds of accomodations in the Dominical area which range from $10 a night hostels to 5 star boutique hotels.
Dominical also has some wonderful restaurants that serve local fare like arroz con pollo at very inexpensive prices. There are also many gourmet restuarants with many types of cuisine from all over the world. La Parcela and Cuna del Angel are two wonderful gourmet restaurants located just south of Dominical.
One of the most famous tours in the country is located in the Dominical area. Don Lulo's waterfall tour is a must do for anyone travelling to this area. The tour starts early in the morning when you arrive to mount your horse and head to the falls. You stop at the beautiful Tico-style home of Don Lulo to eat breakfast before continuing on to Nayuaca Falls, which are considered the most beautiful in the country. Then you stop again to enjoy a typical Tico style lunch before heading back.
