The region is known for being the warmest and driest part of the country, and has some of the most beautiful beaches which include Playa Ocotal and Playas del Coco.  Within the last several years this region has seen the birth of some mega-all inclusive resorts which include the world class Four Seasons. The only other international airport in the country is located in the Northern Pacific Region in the city of Liberia. The once small fishing village of Tamarindo has exploded with growth as more and more foreigners are buying their own piece of paradise. The prices in the Northern Pacific Region are generally the highest in the country due to the recent development.
