The Osa is home to the largest last remaining stretches of Pacific coastal rainforests in Central America. The climate is warm and the area receives large amounts of rainfall, producing some of the most densest and lush areas of forestation in all of Costa Rica. The infrastructure throughout the Southern Zone is still in its infancy, and most resorts are of and eco-nature and produce their own power source. The Osa is home to some of the world’s most endangered species on the planet. Located on the very southern edge of the region is the tiny town of Pavones which has become world famous for the longest left surf break in the world, which last over two minutes when the conditions are ideal. The prices in the southern region still offer deals to be found due to its remoteness.
