Isla del Caño is a protected reserve of only 750 acres of land extension that is a part to the province of Puntarenas, on the Pacific Ocean, about 13 miles from the Osa Peninsula. From a geological and archeological point of view, this island is one of the most important ones all of the country; not to mention that this land is a refuge for migratory birds and protects wide marine environments.

Many people believe Caño Island offers the best diving in Costa Rica. Many of the same species you find in the Galapagos Islands are able to be viewed here.  Isla del Caño has become one of the globe's newest hot spots for diving.
