Jaco (pronounced Ha-Ko) is a very busy beach town which is easily accessible from San Jose. The area is very popular with a younger crowd due to the ever present party scene. Playa Hermosa is located near Jaco and hosts an international surfing competition every year. The areas to the north and south of Jaco are extremely beautiful with picturesque mountains running into the sea.
