Languages Spoken in Costa Rica

Spanish is the official language of Costa Rica and is spoken throughout the country.

English is often spoken in all areas of Costa Rica, due to the fact that it is taught as part of the national curriculum to grade school children.  There are many schools in the country of Costa Rica that specialize in teaching English to both the local community and foreign students.  When traveling to any foreign country like Costa Rica, we always recommend learning the basic commands in the native language and keeping a translation dictionary handy.
