Meet the Owner

My name is Ryan Huett, and along with my wonderful wife Tammy, and our two rambunctious boys Jonathan and Luke we have discovered the Pure Life.

“Pura Vida’, or the pure life, is a common expression heard throughout the beautiful country of Costa Rica.  This concept of a Pure Life is exactly what Buy Safe Costa Rica strives to bring to potential buyers who share the common dream of purchasing property in Costa Rica. 

Our story is one of adventure and opportunity, and we have now arrived  at a point where we hope to share our experiences and knowledge with others so that they too can have the peace of mind we now enjoy.

I have been a licensed real estate agent in the state of Texas since 1996, and have run a three generation old family business since that time. I attended Tec de Monterrey in Mexico where I studied for my Masters in International Business, and became fluent in Spanish. 

Tammy and I always dreamt of buying property south of the border, and after carefully examining many options including Mexico, Panama, and Chile we finally chose Costa Rica for a number of reasons. The principle reasons being safety, stability, security of investment, and most all, the friendliest people on the planet.

We purchased a 9 acre parcel in the mountains of the Costa Rican Central Pacific which had two amazing fifty foot waterfalls on it in the summer of 2004. We returned in 2005 and built our dream home surrounded by lush tropical forest and peering out over the most incredible valley. The process of both buying and building was very taxing at times, and I am able to speak Spanish. 

I could not help but think how intimidating it must be for someone who could not speak the language to have to go through this process. There were several occasions in which if I had not been able to understand fully what was transpiring, I could have cost myself a bundle.  Fortunately, we were able to complete the project without any major setbacks, and now we are blessed to split time between enchanting Costa Rica and our home in Texas. I keep nagging Tammy for more time in paradise, but I have not been able to wrestle away the fall and Christmas, but with the boys help, hopefully she will give in.

Tammy and I started Buy Safe Costa Rica with the hopes of informing and assisting people who shared our ambitions of three years ago. We did not want to create a typical real estate business for a number of reasons; we chose rather to provide a service that screens potential sellers and their agents to ensure a safe and positive buying experience.  The mission of our web business is to help teach you about Costa Rica and the home buying process, list beautiful properties at great prices and share our personal experiences so that your dreams can be realized like ours were.
