Corcovado National Park is considered to be on of the most ecologically diverse places in the world. The park contains approximately 140 species of mammals, 367 birds, 117 amphibians and reptiles, 40 types of freshwater fish, and it is estimated that there are some 6,000 types of insects. It is also home to the amazing jaguar which is the largest of the mammals in the area. The park is truly the last undeveloped large piece of Costa Rica, and many efforts remain underway to keep it that way.
