Golfito is Costa Rica’s most southern port town, and it is located across from the Osa Peninsula. Golfito has long been know to surfers as the gateway tothe popular surfing point of Pavones which is said to have the longest left break in the world. Golfito has become a year round base for sportfishing with easy access to the Golfo Dulce as well as the Pacific Ocean. Golfito was a thriving banana port for almost 50 years, but was left to wither away after the departure of the United Fruit Company in 1985.
